Personal Care
Helping you with
your daily routine.
We understand how important it is for you to be clean, dignified and present yourself in the way you would normally want to.
Support and assistance with personal care
Needing support and assistance with personal care can be a difficult and sensitive topic to discuss. Day to day things that many of us take for granted, like bathing and toileting, can sometimes become not so easy to manage and understandably, requiring help with this can be difficult.
Sometimes family members are not able to help in this regard, or you may not have anyone nearby who can take on this responsibility on a regular basis.
The level of personal care we can support with is completely flexible. It may be that you just need someone there for reassurance whilst you take a shower (or someone on hand to help reach the parts that you struggle to), or perhaps you need more hands on support with your usual morning, evening and toileting routines. Our carers understand the need to help with personal care in a dignified and respectful way.
How often are we able to provide support?
Initially, it may be that you only need a small amount of help and support. This could be just one call a day to give you the opportunity to get used to having a carer coming into your home on a daily basis, on hand for reassurance and to help whenever necessary, or perhaps you need help a few times a week for a specific activity (such as a bath or shower).
If you need more regular support, twice daily visits or visits four times a day are also examples of typical packages of care, however, our packages can be tailored to suit you and your lifestyle and any number of visits are possible throughout the day. These visits may be based around things like your morning, lunch, or evening routines, for example if you need a little help to get in and out of bed, help getting washed and dressed or at meal times.
If you need a higher level of support; whether that is help with toileting, support with catheter, stoma and conveen care, or you are cared for in bed, the level of support we are able to provide is both specific to you and flexible, changing and adapting to your needs.
What tasks are we able to help with
As people get older, they sometimes get to a stage in life where they feel they would benefit from more help with their own personal care. We fully understand having help with your personal care can be embarrassing so we want you to feel comfortable with our carers which is why we ask them to always treat you with dignity, respect, and compassion. We can help with washing this could be a strip wash, bed bath, a shower, or a nice soak in the bath. Our carers will wash hair, shave our clients, support with good oral hygiene, monitor you skin integrity to keep your skin healthy and apply creams to keep your skin soft.
